English Summer Rain

Ah, nach den Eisheiligen, sonstigen Regenperioden ist jetzt also die Schafskälte an der Reihe. Darauf folgt dann wohl bald der Altweibersommer und kurz darauf toben die ersten Herbststürme? Ehrlich gesagt, heute kann mir das (Un-)Wetter den Buckel herunter rutschen, denn ich gönne mir einen gemütlichen Tag drinnen. Um dem Ganzen das gewisse Etwas zu verleihen, werde ich dann auch gleich meine neuen Schnäppchensandalen im Stil eines englischen Blumenkissens einlaufen und den rosa Lippenstift auftragen.  Dazu noch Jane Austens "Sanditon"-so eine bitterböse Sommergeschichte- eine grosse Kanne Tee und ein, zwei Maccarons von Sprüngli runden den Nachmittag  ab. (Notiz an mich selber: keine royalen Hochzeiten  mehr schauen, da latent romantische Seite zu stark überhand zu nehmen droht). In diesem Sinne, ein Hoch auf den Sommer, die Sonne und die Leichtigkeit des Seins. Stösschen. Wünsch euch einen schönen Wochenstart!

Ah, after the "Frost Saints" (in German-speaking countries: according to popular belief a period in May with increased likelihood of night frost falling on the feast days of certain saints thus jointly nicknamed 'Frost Saints'), and other rain periods, now it's time for the "Sheep's Cold Snap" (cold days in June - a weather phenomenon peculiar to Germany). That period will probably be soon followed by the Indian Summer and shortly after that, will we see Autumn Storms? To be honest, this (un-)weather can go jump in a lake, I'll be treating myself to a cozy day-in. To give all this the certain je-ne-sais-quoi, I'll be running-in my bargain-peeptoes in the style of an English flower pillow and I'll be putting on my pink lipstick. With it Jane Austen's "Sanditon"- a malicious summer's tale- a big pot of tea, and one or two maccarons by Sprüngli make my afternoon complete. (Note to self: don't watch any more royal weddings, latent romantic side will take the upper hand). In that sense, hooray for summer, the sun and the lightness of being. Cheers.
